Kituwah LLC (pronounced KEE-TOO-WAH) is rooted in the traditional homelands of the Cherokee people. Our name comes from Kituwah, known as the “Mother Town” of the Cherokee and recognized by all three federally recognized Cherokee tribes as the place of origin for the Cherokee people. Located just seven miles from present-day Cherokee, North Carolina, the Kituwah site is one of the most sacred places in Cherokee history, with archaeological evidence dating back nearly 10,000 years.
The Kituwah Mound still stands today — a lasting symbol of Cherokee identity, resilience, and continuity. Though reduced in height during generations when the land was no longer under Cherokee ownership, the site remained spiritually significant to Cherokee people. In 1996, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians reclaimed more than 300 acres surrounding the mound, marking the Tribe’s first major land purchase in more than a century and restoring stewardship of a place deeply connected to Cherokee heritage and sovereignty.
That same spirit of restoration and self-determination guides the mission of Kituwah LLC today.
When our businesses grow, our people rise. Revenue generated through our enterprises is reinvested into Tribal life — supporting education, housing, elder care, cultural preservation, language revitalization, youth opportunities, and future generations.
For us, economic development is more than business. It is a tool for empowerment, healing, and nation-building. It is an investment in our people, our culture, and our future.
This is not just business.
This is sovereignty in action.
